This is one of the most iconic books you could own as a researcher/ collector by the legend that is Lyn Macdonald. Macdonald was one of the biggest names in military history specialising in the First World War. The book 'They called it Passchendale' plunges the reader into the wet and dangerous conditions of the Ypres Salient using the words of the hundreds of veterans that she interviewed over her time as a military historian. On opening the book, you will find that the book has been signed by Macdonald on the 1st July 1986, the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. The book itself is in reasonably goof condition for its age as seen on the photographs.
