WW1 1915 Dated Penny Coin Hit By Shrapnel

I have had this piece for around 15 years bought from a antiques fair in the UK. I have seen many faked coins that have supposedly been battle damaged however all of them are easily identified as copied. This looks to have been hit with either a bullet or most likely a piece of shrapnel whilst in a soldiers pocket. I am sure that this is a original coin that has been hit during the period however as I was not there I cannot guarantee. The coin looks to have nice patina to it and does not look to have been damaged in recent times.
