This bayonet was recently found at Mametz and is marked to the Reserve Infantry Regiment 109. RIR 109 were in the line between Mametz and Fricourt on the 1st July 1916 and suffered approximately 2000 casualties on that day. Regimentally marked relic bayonets are difficult to find especially ones which hold such impressive history. Overall the bayonet is in good relic condition with only a small portion of the blade missing. I have left the piece in as found condition only putting a rust preventative on it.
