This striking helmet shows the signs of the bitter fighting that took place in the bocage and towns of Normandy. As is quite obvious, the helmet and probably the original owner has suffered a large piece of shrapnel to the front of the helmet. Overall the helmet itself is in very solid condition and looks to have been either a barn find or most likely found not too long after the war. The hemet has a smooth texture and not crumbly at all with original fieldgrau paint on the inside.
